In the spirit of the month of puppy love, the USA Southerners held their annual Puppy Kissing Booth. The event took place at the MacQueen Alumni Center on Friday, February 11. The puppies in attendance were brought by Save-A-Stray Mobile, an all-volunteer, foster-based non-profit organization.
While it’s fun to spend some time with puppies at a campus event and grab a “Kiss a Puppy” button on the way to class, they’re also here in the hopes of being adopted. If you missed this event, don’t worry! These puppies are back on campus throughout the semester, including during Midterms and Finals weeks, for students’ mental health.
Save-A-Stray Mobile has “adoptables” from three months to three years old. Since its founding 17 years ago by Garrett and Stephanie Williamson, the all-volunteer and foster-based rescue group has been able to foster, vet, and adopt thousands of dogs and cats in Mobile. This organization has a passion for animal rescue, spay/neuter programs, and public education about the ever-growing population of unhoused and unwanted animals. For more information about their organization and adoption inquiries, check out their website: Welcome to Save a Stray

“Meet Meadow!! This sweet angel is a snuggle bug and will take all the cuddles you want to give her. She is affectionate and loving and would like nothing better than to make your lap her home.” (Save-A-Stray Mobile)

“Meet River!! This adventurous boy would love to accompany you in your exploration of the great unknown. His explorative nature will give you the perfect push you want to go on those evening nature walks.” (Save-A-Stray Mobile)

“Meet Bojangles! This loving bully mix is the happy-go-lucky kind of dog that people dream of having. While adventuring and floating on the river are his favorite activities so far, this fella is also down for playing with other dogs. Despite his adventurous nature, Bojangles will also settle well in a crate and is totally up for snuggling with his person.” (Save-A-Stray Mobile)
