The University of South Alabama Board of Trustees approved the decision to create a payment plan for students along with no increase in tuition for the 2019-2020 school year. USA students will now have the option to pay off their account bill including tuition, fees, and housing and dining rates throughout the semester.

The student payment plan will consist of a “pay-as-you-go” method instead of paying 100% of tuition in full on the first day of classes. This method allows students to make up to four payments until the end of the semester or until tuition is paid in full. This option will be available to all campus and distant learners and no credit check will be required for students will to use this payment method.

“One of the goals for SGA is to lift the financial burden for students because it’s one of the main stressors along with mental and physical stress, so I think it will positivity impact our students,” says Sahilee Waitman, USA Student Government Association President.

There will be no increase in tuition rates in academic programs for the upcoming school year. Instead, there will be a decrease in tuition in the nursing programs at South Alabama. Improvements will be made in housing over the summer and a 2 percent increase in student meal plan rates.

With these changes being made South Alabama tuition and fees among the lowest cost of universities in the State of Alabama.
