Center for Academic Excellence Prepares for a Successful Year

By: Sydney McDonald | Managing Editor

The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE), formerly known as Jag Success, is getting a productive start to the new semester. After renaming and moving their main operations from the Academic Service center to the second floor of the Marx Library, they are ready to help students have a successful year.

CAE is an academic service center that strives to provide every student at South with the learning resources they need to succeed.

“Our academic enrichment services are grounded in a growth mindset, and we strongly advocate that students can learn anything with hard work, perseverance, and good study habits,” said Kristi Clayton, Coordinator for Student Academic Success.

CAE provides multiple options for students to find what study methods work best for them. You can find individual or group tutoring sessions for a majority of the general education courses offered at South. The center hopes to offer a “collaborative learning opportunity” where students can build the skills they need to succeed in college classes. They also provide writing consultations as well.

If you would like to sign up for an appointment you can go to or visit the center in the Marx Library.

Along with their normal activities, CAE will also be hosting it’s third annual Success Summit on Sunday, Sept. 15 in the Student Center Ballroom from 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

“Students will learn how to study smart, set goals, find their motivation, manage their time, explore campus resources, and discover their inner leader,” said Clayton.

Any students who participate will receive a certificate of completion and will have the chance to win prizes. If you are interested in signing up visit to register.
