The Office of International Education, OIE, will host a Virtual Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Study Abroad allows students to travel to other countries and experience different cultures while still earning credits towards their degree.
The Study Abroad Fair is designed to give students who are interested in general information on the different programs that are offered. These include faculty-led programs that are led by USA Professors, international exchange programs, and many virtual opportunities, such as online internships.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to speak and connect with alumni who have gone abroad and hear them share their experiences. As an extra bit of fun, the fair will host a scavenger hunt and other giveaways that will allow students the chance to win t-shirts and gift cards.
Usually, the fair is in the student center, but this semester The Office of International Education decided to go virtually on Zoom to adhere to the social distancing guidelines brought upon by Covid-19. The Zoom meeting will have several breakout rooms where students can learn more about the different programs of their choice.
While many challenges had to be overcome because of this, first-time International Education Ambassador, Sun Irene remains very optimistic.
“I’m excited to see how the event turns out this semester. We’ll see how things go and we hope to adapt some learnings from this virtual event so we know how to prepare for the future,” Irene said.
Students are encouraged to register for the fair on the USA Study Abroad website prior to the event.
