On Feb. 5, the Jaguars faced the Chanticleers for the third time this year and overcame them 71-65. The star players of the game Michael Flowers and Tyreke Locure hit the 20-point mark that led the Jags to a victory.
During the first half, both teams battled and struggled to keep a grip on the ball. Locure stepped up to slow the game down, hitting a 3-pointer at 14:55.
While the Jags fought to remain in the lead, they struggled to keep their hands off their opponent, acquiring ten team fouls. At 00:01, Flowers quickly passed the ball to Sam Iorio on a fast break and launched a staggering 3-pointer buzzer-beater, closing out the half 28-32 with the Jags leading by four. Locure was the number one leading scorer in this quarter.
At the top of the second half, with just under two minutes after Tyrik Dixon attempted a jumper and two 3-pointers, Essam Mostafa quickly rebounded the ball and made the first layup of the quarter. Towards the middle of the half, both team’s offenses began to improve drastically.
The Chanticleers overpowered the Jags in receiving the most offensive and defensive rebounds.
With 17:49 on the clock, Ebrima Dibba’s jumper tied the game 32-32. Flowers was the leading scorer in this game.
Although Tyrik Dixon attempted to exceed the Jags with a 3-pointer, Flowers rebounded the missed shot and launched the ball to John Pettway that pulled the arena to their feet for a fast break slam dunk.
Locure was the second-leading scorer for the Jags. He fouled out with 01:55 left of the quarter ending the night with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Flowers led the Jaguars scoring 28 points with six assists, while Sam Iorio finished with eight rebounds.
