Do you know your First Amendment Rights? Speak Up South is a campaign, created by students, that wants to spread awareness of the First Amendment freedoms on campus.
Speak Up South is having a panel discussion to provide students with a safe space to ask questions and address concerns related to the First Amendment, and exercising that freedom on our campus. It is also geared to provide students with information on how they can use their freedoms without violating campus policy.
The forum will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20 on the first floor of the Communication Building in Room 160. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow time to get food and refreshments and the discussion will start at 6:00 p.m. It is open to all students and faculty.
“Ideally, we want to equip students with a better understanding of the First Amendment freedoms, enabling them to exercise and rightfully defend their rights,” said Jung Hwa Choi, Advisor of Speak Up South.
Special tables for organizations that would like to set up at this forum are also available. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a table.
Speak Up South encourages all students to participate and join the conversation. This organization is open to all majors. Students who are interested in learning more about Speak Up South can follow their page on Instagram to see more content: @speakupsouth.
