Ready to take the next step in your professional life? The USA Department of Career Services will be providing a valuable opportunity for students. The department will host the first virtual HireAJag Career Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. via Handshake. Students must pre-register with employers on Handshake to attend.
Unlike the On-Campus and Part-Time Job Fair, the Career Fair provides a network for full-time jobs and internships. According to the USA Career Services’ website, “The fair is a university-wide event open to all majors. The career fair provides employers, students, and alumni the opportunity to discuss full-time, co-op, and internship positions.”
Some of the employers participating this year looking to hire South students are the Peace Corps, Phillips 66, Spectrum Resorts, and the U.S. Air Force.
All the meetings will be held virtually, however, students are recommended to dress professionally. According to the Career Services website, “Business professional attire is highly encouraged, and a minimum of business casual attire is required. Employers formulate opinions about our USA student and alumni body based upon professional appearance and demeanor.” The Career Services Department provides some helpful wardrobe tips on their website.
The Career Services department also recommends students have an updated resume and provides resources for resume writing on their website. The website offers a resume generator system called Awato for students who don’t yet have a resume. Students with a resume can upload it for review in Handshake and get valuable feedback from Career Services professionals.
