V-Day returns to The University of South Alabama with two events: “We Need to Talk!” and “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer.”

“V-Day is a global movement that exists to help end violence against women and girls through creative programming and events,” Addison Grissett, this year’s coordinator for V-Day at USA, said in an email.. “We are looking forward to two fantastic events this season and we would love to have the communications department involved.”

On Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., writer, author and teacher Janine Latus will be in the Student Center Ballroom to give a presentation entitled “We Need to Talk!”

“This presentation will be an immersive talk on the spectrum of sexual assault and relationship abuse,” Grissett wrote.

On Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer will be performed in the Student Center Ballroom.

“This performance piece shares the stories of real men and women who are survivors of sexual violence,” Grissett wrote.

Tickets for this performance will be $5 and all proceeds will directly benefit the Penelope House here in Mobile.

For students helping with A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer, service hours can be signed.
