As South Alabama basketball concludes for the men, this season was one that all fans and players will remember. While the season didn’t go exactly how the Jags had planned, the season was still a success. Finishing with a record of 21-12 and 11-7 in conference play, the Jaguars had one of their best seasons in the school’s recent history.
The Jags finished their season with an NIT bid for the 5th time in the program’s history. The Jags would fall to the Auburn Tigers in the first round of the NIT tournament, with the final score being 78 to 67. After a hot start in conference play, the Jags would lose their final two games of the season, losing in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament to Georgia Southern.
As the team’s leader, Chaze Harris led the team in both points and assists. With 19.2 points per game and 4.9 assists, Harris established himself as one of the top players in the Sun Belt Conference. Adam Olsen served as a very reliable second option to Harris, as he finished the year with averages of 16 points per game while shooting almost 40% from 3-point range. Other players had great seasons, such as Peyton Law and Jayden Cooper. While Law didn’t play for most of the season, in the games he did play, he established himself as one of the best scorers on the team with averages of 12.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in around 25 minutes per game.
With the 2026 season completed, the Jaguars set their eyes on the 2027 season, where they hope to capture another Sun Belt Conference Championship and make a push for the NCAA tournament.
