South Alabama came just short of the win on Sept. 12, against Tulane in New Orleans, with a final score of 28-24.

The Jaguars started off strong in the first quarter, leading 10-0 after a 40-yard field goal by Davis Little, as well as a 16-yard run for a touchdown by PJ Martin. In the second quarter, Tulane came back with 2 touchdowns, both by Johnnie Daniels, putting the Green Wave ahead by 4 points going into halftime.

Going into the second half, the Jaguars were looking to get ahead once again and were at first successful with a 43-yard pass from Bishop Davenport to Anthony Eager for a touchdown. However, towards the end of the third quarter, Jaylin Lucas had an impressive 80-yard run, resulting in a touchdown for Tulane. In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars got one final touchdown, with a 17-yard pass from Davenport to Brendan Jenkins, putting South Alabama ahead by 3 points. While the Jaguars tried their best to hold back the Green Wave, Tulane responded with a touchdown in the final 2 minutes of the game, resulting in the 28-24 loss for the Jaguars.Davenport led the game in passing yards (296), while Jenkins led in receiving yards (119). 

The Jaguars currently hold a 2-2 record this season and will be at Hancock-Whitney Stadium this Saturday to play UL Monroe for Homecoming Weekend. While the Jaguars may have not returned home from New Orleans with the win, we can be confident in knowing that we still get to live and experience the birthplace of Mardi Gras right here in Mobile.
